Looking Like Jesus

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you."
Luke 6:27

What does it mean to be a Christian? What does it mean to follow Jesus? Does it mean that we can take what He says and form it to fit our lifestyle choices?

No, it means living the life that God called us to live, no matter how much we don't want to. It means giving up things that we think we can't live without.

This means taking time out of your everyday life to make sure that the person standing next to you is doing okay, giving your last dollar to someone who needs it more.

Look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see someone who is worthy of following God? Someone who is worthy enough to have grace? I bet that 9 out of 10 people who read this will say no. I am one of those.
I look in the mirror and see someone who sins everyday. Someone who God must shake his head at and wonder why I need so many chances.

But the truth is that we're not perfect, nor will we ever be.

The world has given us these stereotypes of "if I don't look like Jessica Simpson, then boys will never like me" or "if I don't have a six pack, then girls won't like me" or "if I don't get wasted every night, then people will think I'm no fun."

Who gave us these concepts? THE WORLD, not God himself.
Let me share something with you ladies and gentlemen. The world has corrupted Christians everywhere. The world constantly mocks us. Makes us feel inferior to the rest of the World. When the truth is that we shouldn't.

When we look in the mirror, we should see someone who is the way they are for a reason. Someone who has Gods grace. Someone who deserves it. Someone who is willing to fight for it. Because lets be honest, we are CALLED to give up everything we have and follow him. Not give up fish on Fridays, or video games on Tuesdays or whatever. We are called to give up EVERYTHING and follow him.

There are days when I look in the mirror and wonder if I deserve the grace that I have. Well let me tell you guys a story about someone. His name was Saul. He was a man that went around arresting, torturing and killing Christians because they didn't follow the Jewish traditions. This man was among the worst of the worst when it comes to people.
But then God called upon him. Made him blind so he could see.
This man is now known as Paul. One of the biggest disciples of Jesus Christ and one of the founders of the Christian church.

When I first started going to Church, I thought that I could never be saved. I had sinned too much in my life and maybe I could convince God to put me in a dumpster in the back of Heaven.
But there's a verse in the bible that tells a different story.

"Christ Jesus came into the World to save sinners, of whom I am the greatest." 1 Timothy 1:15.
You know who wrote that? PAUL!

People, if a person who LITERALLY hunted down and KILLED Christians can become the founder of the Christian Church, then I think I stand a chance, I think anyone in this world stands a chance. Not just of maybe being in a dumpster, but standing before God Himself and looking him in the eye.

Here's the truth people. It doesn't matter to Jesus if you have a pimple face, if you have a spare tire or if you once got so drunk that you have a tattoo confessing your love for you mother.

God loves you. Just love him back and confess of your sins to Him. Tell Him everything and in return you'll feel like a million bucks.

One of my favorite songs is "Have a Little Talk with Jesus." It's a song about just that. Sitting down and praying about everything that is ailing you. Confessing the little stuff to Him. We need to be able to do that.

We shouldn't care about who sees us Praying. As long as you're not doing it for attention, who cares? You're having a conversation with your Father.

We, as Christians, need to get out of the mentality that, "if we don't fit the world, then I'm not worth much."
Well here's the truth.

YOU'RE WORTH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST!

God loves us so much that He sacrificed his only Son so that we as a race could one day stand before Him.

Never forget that.

Be Blessed.
